Artist's Description

The members of the original 1944 production of the Jerome Robbins ballet 'Fancy Free' dance in the street near the intersection of Broadway and 23rd at., New York, New York, mid 1958. They are, from left, American dancers Muriel Bentley (1917 - 1999), Janet Reed (1916 - 2000), Harold Lang (1920 - 1965), and John Kriza (1919 - 1975), and dancer and choreographer Jerome Robbins (1918 - 1998). The Flatiron Building (center), designed by architect Daniel Burnham, is visible in the background.
