Portrait of American photographer and journalist Margaret Bourke-White (1904 - 1971), dressed in an Air Force uniform, as she sits atop the engine (labelled 'Peggy') of a B-17 bomber named 'Flying Flit-Gun,' Polebrook, Northamptonshire, England, fall 1942. The plane originates from the 97th Bombardment Group of the 8th Bomber Command (later 8th Air Force) which was stationed at Polebrook from June until November of 1942.
